Greetings are the first words visitors read. Set them in Live chat › Chat settings › Greeting & translation.
Two greetings
| Greeting | When it’s used |
|---|---|
| Greeting (agents online) | Inside office hours, while at least one agent is Online |
| Greeting (agents offline) | Outside office hours, or when nobody is online |
Write them in your own voice. Good greetings are specific about what people can ask and when they’ll get an answer:
- Online: “Hi! Ask about sizes, shipping or returns — we reply in a few minutes.”
- Offline: “We’re offline until 9:00. Cubby can answer most questions now, or leave your email and we’ll reply in the morning.”
The bubble teaser
The teaser is a small card that pops up above the bubble about four seconds after a visitor arrives, once. It’s the gentlest way to say hello. Visitors who already have a conversation don’t see it.
Turn it on with Bubble teaser and write one short line. If you want different messages on different pages, use invite rules instead.
Greetings and languages
Greetings are shown exactly as you wrote them; they are not translated. If you serve visitors in several languages, write greetings that work for everyone (or in English), and let two-way translation handle the conversation itself.
AI opening line
If the AI agent is on, you can also set an AI opening line in Chat settings › AI assistant. It is sent once, right before Cubby first answers in a conversation.
