Widget language controls the interface text in the visitor window — buttons, placeholders and system lines. It does not translate the conversation.
Set it in Live chat › Chat settings › Appearance.
| Choice | What visitors see |
|---|---|
| Follow visitor browser (default) | Simplified Chinese when the browser language is Chinese, otherwise English |
| Simplified Chinese | Always Chinese |
| English | Always English |
The interface itself comes in these two languages. Other languages are supported for the conversation through two-way translation.
What doesn’t change with it
- Your greetings, teaser and knowledge base answers stay in the words you wrote.
- Your own inbox follows your dashboard language, not this setting.
- Pinned FAQs with a language tag are shown to visitors whose interface matches; untagged ones are shown to everyone.
Want visitors to read replies in their language?
Turn on two-way translation. Visitors write in their language, your team reads a translation, and replies go back in the visitor’s language.
