Why it matters

The best support starts before the first message

“How can I help?” is a fine opening. “Looks like you’re on checkout — want me to check that promo code?” is a better one.

See who is here, right now

Every visitor with the widget loaded appears as they arrive, with their current page and whether they are actually looking at it.

Live listBrowsing / background

Context without questions

Referrer, landing page, path this visit, device, language, time zone and visit count — so nobody has to ask “which product?” or “where are you?”.

Start in the right place

Spot the visitor stuck on checkout or reading pricing for the fourth time, and send one friendly message from the same row.

01Live list

Everyone on your site, as it happens

Visitors appear the moment the widget loads and move as they browse. You can tell who is reading right now, who left the tab in the background, and who is already chatting with a teammate.

  • Current page, location, device, time on site and pages viewed for every visitor
  • Browsing now, or all their tabs are in the background — and for how long
  • See who is already chatting, and with whom, so two people don’t say hello
  • Start chat, continue the conversation, or open the full details from the row
  • Visitors in the background for more than 30 minutes drop off the list — your messages still reach them

02Context card

The whole visit on one card

Open any conversation and the context card sits beside it: where the visitor came from, what they read and what they’re using. The trail lists their most recent pages in order.

  • Referrer, landing page (with its campaign parameters) and current page
  • Trail of the last 20 pages this visit, with times
  • Country / region, device brand and model, OS and browser — plus the device they usually use
  • Language and time zone — useful before you reply at 3 a.m. their time
  • Time on site and pages viewed, updating while they browse
Language tells you a lot · A browser set to de-DE on your English site is a hint to switch on translation.

03Automatic tags

Four tags that point you to the right visitor

No rules to write. Tags are worked out live from the visit, so your eye goes straight to the people worth talking to.

  • Worked out in real time; nothing to set up
  • The same tags in the live list and on the context card
  • “Viewing pricing” and “Long browse” only show while the visitor is online
  • “New” and “Returning” need PathClue analytics on the same site — otherwise they simply aren’t shown
  • Visitors never see their tags
NewFirst time here

No earlier visit in the analytics history. A warm welcome goes a long way.

The page they’re on right now is about pricing, plans, the cart, checkout or an order.

They have been actively reading for a while — a tab left open in the background doesn’t count.

04History

Every earlier conversation, one click away

When a visitor comes back, their earlier conversations are listed on the context card. Click one to open the whole thread — messages, internal notes and who handled it.

  • Earlier conversations with your team and with Cubby, newest first
  • Status, last message and date at a glance
  • Who took over, transferred or helped — with a timeline for the current conversation
  • Within 24 h of resolving, a new message simply continues the same conversation
  • Visitors who tick “remember me” are recognised on the same device for 30 days
“She came back about the same shirt. I could see Lee had already set up an exchange, so I just confirmed it. Thirty seconds.”

Seen someone stuck? Say hello from the same row

Press “Start chat” on any visitor. Your message pops up as a small bubble in the corner of their page — easy to answer, easy to ignore. Prefer it automatic? Invite rules do the same on a timer.

  • One click from the live list
  • A preview bubble beside the launcher, never a full-screen pop-up
  • Each visitor can be approached once per visit
  • Automatic invites by page and time on page
  • When they reply, the conversation lands in the inbox like any other

The full journey lives in PathClue

Visitor insights shows what you need in the moment. For campaigns, funnels, retention and every past session, our sister product PathClue uses the same visitor ID — one click on the context card opens the visitor’s analytics profile.

  • Same visitor ID in AskCub and PathClue
  • “View in analytics” opens the full visitor profile
  • The card also shows the analytics trail of their last two days, events included
  • Funnels, campaigns, retention and goals
  • Same workspace, same login

A one-line summary before you say hello

We are building an AI summary that reads the visit for you and puts the likely intent in one sentence at the top of the context card.

  • Built from the data already on the card — nothing new is collected
  • Shown to your team only
  • Also attached when Cubby hands a conversation over
AI summaries

When you open a visitor or a conversation, Cubby sums up the visit in one sentence: what they looked at, how often they came back, what they probably want.

Example of what it may look like

“3rd visit this month. Compared the linen and cotton shirts, checked the size guide, now on checkout for 3 minutes — may need help with sizing or the promo code.”

Privacy

Useful context, not surveillance

Visitor insights shows roughly what a good shop assistant would notice — and visitors stay in control of their side of the chat.

No personal identity by default

Visitors are short codes until they tell you their name or email. Location stops at country / region, and no raw IP is shown.

Nothing stored until they chat

Loading the widget writes nothing to the browser. A session token is saved only after the visitor opens the chat.

Visitors decide

Visitors can clear the history shown on their device, and choose whether to be remembered for 30 days.

Fields

Everything on the context card

Collected by the widget while the visitor is on your site, plus visit history when PathClue analytics runs on the same site.

FAQ

Questions about visitor insights

Do I need another script?
No. The chat widget reports the live list and the context card by itself. Only the New / Returning tags and the cross-visit trail use history from PathClue analytics on the same site; without it, they are simply not shown.
Who appears in the live list?
Every visitor on a page where the widget has loaded. Visitors whose tabs have all been in the background for more than 30 minutes are hidden from the list, but can still receive your messages.
Why does the list show fewer visitors than my analytics?
The analytics count includes everyone running the tracking script; the live list only includes visitors you can reach, meaning the chat widget is loaded on their page. Both numbers are shown side by side.
Can I see visitors’ names or emails?
Only if they give them to you — in the chat or in the offline form. Otherwise they are short visitor codes.
Is this GDPR-friendly?
Location stops at country / region, no raw IP is shown, and nothing is stored in the browser until the visitor opens the chat. Mention AskCub in your privacy notice; our visitor privacy page explains what is collected.
Which plans include it?
Every plan, including Free. Who on your team can see the context card is a role permission you control.

Start every conversation already knowing the context.

Add the widget, open the live list, and watch your first visitors arrive. Free to start.
