Next to every conversation, the right-hand panel shows who you’re talking to — without asking.
What it shows
| Block | Contents |
|---|---|
| This visit | Region, device, language, time on site, current page, landing page and referrer |
| Trail in this chat | Pages the visitor viewed during this conversation |
| Recent trail | Pages from the visitor’s recent visits (the last two days), grouped by visit |
| Past conversations | Earlier conversations with the same visitor |
| Actions | Copy the visitor ID, or open the full visitor profile in analytics |
The panel never shows a raw IP address.
Where the data comes from
AskCub uses the same visitor identifier as your website analytics. That’s why the panel can show the trail before the visitor opened the chat, and why the reports can link chats to goals.
On sites using the strictest privacy setting for analytics, the identifier changes every day, so the trail starts fresh at midnight.
What agent-only teammates see
An admin can switch off Visitor context for an agent-only teammate. They then see only the visitor code, region, device, browser, operating system and language — no trail, referrer or history.
Using context well
- Open with what you can see: “I see you’re on the checkout page — is the promo code giving you trouble?”
- Don’t read the trail back to the visitor in detail. Use it to ask a better question.
- Check past conversations before asking for an order number you were already given.
