The live visitors list shows people on your site with the chat widget loaded. You can send any of them one opening line.

Send a message

  1. Open the live visitors list from the inbox.
  2. Find the visitor — you can see their current page, time on page, source and visit count.
  3. Click Start chat, write one line and send.

On the visitor’s side the message pops up next to the chat bubble with your name and avatar, with a soft sound if their sound is on. Replying opens the chat with your message already there.

Limits that keep it friendly

  • Once per visit. Each visitor can receive at most one proactive message per online visit, from anyone on your team.
  • No conversation until they reply. A message nobody answers doesn’t create a conversation and doesn’t use your monthly quota.
  • Only visitors who are here. People who have left can’t be messaged.

Who can do it

Owners, admins and analysts can. Agent-only teammates can’t by default; an admin can switch on Live visitors / proactive messages for them in Agents.

“Can I help you?”“Is the promo code not working? Happy to check it for you.”
“Hello!”“Comparing plans? Tell me how many people will use it and I’ll suggest one.”
“Any questions?”“That shirt runs small — want help picking a size?”
